The Elite Ladies Golf League (ELGL) has a proud and inspiring history. Originally founded as the Ebony Ladies Golf League in 1997 in Youngstown, Ohio, the league began with just 14 charter members who shared a vision: to create a welcoming space for women—especially minority women—to experience the joy, challenge, and community of golf. Under the leadership of founder Brunilda Turner, ELGL expanded quickly, establishing chapters in Columbus, Ohio, as well as Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Texas.

The Texas Chapter of ELGL took root in 2003 when members Kusana Turner and Linda Prince-Johnson relocated from Columbus to Dallas–Fort Worth. Their passion and leadership sparked the growth of a vibrant local chapter, bringing together women of all skill levels to learn, compete, and connect through golf. Over the years, the Texas Chapter became one of the most active branches, hosting tournaments, play dates, clinics, and events that strengthened the league’s presence in DFW and beyond.

As the 2025 season approached, ELGL entered a season of transition. With longtime Chairperson Kusana Turner preparing to relocate and the Texas Chapter evolving, the decision was made to begin a new chapter—one that would honor the legacy of ELGL while building something fresh for the future. Out of this transition, the DFW Elite Golf League (DEGL) was born.

DFW Elite Golf League embraces the history, heart, and spirit that ELGL built, while stepping forward into a new era of growth, innovation, and inclusivity. We proudly recognize Kusana Turner and Linda Prince-Johnson as the founding inspirations behind what we are today. Their leadership laid the foundation—and now, DFW Elite is ready to soar.

With a renewed focus on community, diversity, competitive play, and meaningful connection, DFW Elite Golf League is creating a space where golfers of all backgrounds can thrive. Men are now welcomed as part of our growing league, new events and experiences are on the horizon, and a new leadership team is building a dynamic future grounded in the strength of the past.
